Hailing from the twin-island republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Afrocessories was birthed from our founder's need to make her favorite protective style easier to wear.
​"I did not always have the time to wrap my hair so I created a way to look fabulous on the go! Now my days of being a lazy natural has turned into me making a fashion statement each and every time."
Convinced that her creation would work for EVERY naturalista, Marcia and her husband designed the first AfroBonnet in July 2017 and began selling it at local pop-ups in September 2017.
When they first began, the first designs were sewn by a girlfriend of the couple and featured Afrocentric fabric. Since then Marcia has taught herself to sew and the AfroBonnets have developed into FOUR collections, not including new products like the AfroBand and the AfroBandeau.
There are now Denim Bonnets - which are, as the name suggests made of Denim and Chambray; Hawt Bonnets - which are one-size fit all, made of spandex and features bright colours; Dashiki Print Bonnets - which features the Angelina print popular in Nigeria and Ghana; and the original AfroBonnet itself with its Ankara and Kente prints.
The AfroBonnet is easy to use, great to wear and offers great protection for your hair! Remember it's not a wrap - it's a HAT!
